The Basketball Column Part II

After joining a local basketball league, the littlest Huffman has become quite the mini hoopster.

She dribbles. She passes. She’s on offense. She’s on defense. She runs up and down the court in a spiffy new pair of white and lavender basketball shoes. (Hey, if you’re going to play the game, you might as well have cool shoes.) She hasn’t learned how to spin the ball on one finger like the Globetrotters do, but give her time.

Party with the Seniors!

I go to a Spanish class every week at a senior center. The club room
is religiously decorated for every holiday. This week they had a party
for St. Patrick's Day -- check out the bar set up! Party with the
seniors!

Stand up!

And be counted!

I feel all "red white and blue" inside about filling out our census form. For one thing, I love questionnaires. Something about giving my opinion, I guess. Second, this is one of those few times when you feel like the government really needs your help. Besides paying your taxes, I mean. They want to KNOW about ME. Really, truly. And no, I'm not one of those conspiracy nuts who thinks they shouldn't give any info to the government. The census was our Founding Fathers' idea, you know. George Washington would want me to reply.

The Basketball Column Part I

A few months ago, the littlest Huffman made a surprise announcement: She wanted to sign up for basketball.

She is the first Huffman daughter to play basketball and the only basketball game I’d ever seen involved the Harlem Globetrotters, so I really didn’t know what I was getting into. This could be fun, I figured. Maybe she can learn some of those cool tricks like spinning a basketball on her finger. And if that doesn’t work out, the season only lasts seven weeks. How tough could it be?

We're gonna be counted!

I love how organized the Census is so far. Today we got an official Census letter announcing the actual official Census letter coming next week. It's like a friendly heads-up from the govt. Don't you worry Uncle Sam, we're ready to be counted!
