More giant pumpkin

Why are we growing a pumpkin in the newspaper parking lot? 'Cause we can.

Actually, it's because our pressman is really into giant pumpkins. He competes in pumpkin growing contests around the Bay Area. A couple of weeks ago he brought in free giant pumpkin seeds and we gave them away to the public. More than 100 Register readers are now growing their own giant pumpkins. This is what community newspapers are all about -- connecting with our readers in a unique way.

Giant pumpkin update

Our giant pumpkin at the newspaper has outgrown it's original little patch and now has a new enclosure. It sometimes grows as much as an inch a day.

Drama!

Our girls aren’t in any local theater groups. They’ve never taken acting lessons and they don’t sing. But that hasn’t stopped them from giving Oscar-worthy performances around the house.

It’s like they’re in a three-way race to win the Most Dramatic Actress award in a production they call “My Terrible Life.”

A theory about blogging...

Here's a neat idea. Whitney from the blog The King and I is actually doing a master's thesis on moms and blogging! How cool is that? Whitney wants to hear from readers about blogging, so if you have a thought or four, check out her site at:
http://www.thekingandiblog.com/2010/02/king-and-i-need-you.html

I answered Whitney's questionnaire and as I finished the form, I realized something. My blogging on Planet Claire has been the most consistent form of memory keeping I have ever done. I've never been able to journal, but I've managed to keep this blog going for four years. That's also pretty cool. Good luck Whitney.
