A clean scene.

We used to have a cleaning lady. Her name is Elba and for a bunch of years, she showed up on Tuesday mornings and whipped my house into shape.

The first time Elba visited with her team of helpers, it was as though a hive of furious cleaning worker bees had hit the place. They cleaned for three hours straight. They cleaned things I had never cleaned before. When they were done, I knew right then and there I wanted Elba to come back, again and again and again.

Pam Reid must not read my column.

My best work friend (BWF) Kevin got this lovely note of appreciation
from local curmudgeon Pam Reid. All three of you Planet Claire readers
will recall the encouraging (not) note I received from Pam a few
months ago. Sheesh, Kevin gets all the good mail. Chuckles!

Etsy does it.

My Etsy story ran today. This is a piece I worked on for over two months in between other news stories. I first met Katherine Jalaty at a local scrapbook store. She referred me to April Kennedy, the apron lady, and finally Miss Jenny. What a talented and interesting group of women. Makes me want to "make something" too.

Article below:

Napans' DIY businesses going strong on artisan Web site.

“Make something!” reads Katherine Jalaty’s business card.

It’s a motto that this Napa mother lives by every day. Jalaty is not only making crafts — many from recycled items — but she’s also making a living selling her creations to a worldwide audience on a site called Etsy.com.

Etsy, established in 2005, is marketed as “the world’s most vibrant handmade marketplace.” The site connects consumers with independent creators and designers of handmade goods, while providing artists with the technology and information to grow their own businesses.

Junk or gem?

My friend Jeannine found this butterfly wall art at our local CP -
Community Projects thrift store. It's a DIY project embellished with
earing accessories. I thought it was fantastic! What do you think???
Tomorrow my etsy story runs. It's all about local women who like to
"Make Something!" Kind of like this butterfly?

Two lovers, one accident, and CHAT magazine story.

Readers may remember the story I wrote for the Register about two high school sweethearts reunited after 50 years apart. Here is another magazine(from the UK) that picked up the story. (Love how they call him Hot Rod!)
