Our graduate.

It may only be 8th grade, but for us, it’s a lifetime.

Ten years at St. John’s school.

From the early Pre-K days to Kindergarten, when she’d sometimes cling to me as the bell rang; to First Grade when she’d greet me after school by flying into my arms with a big ready hug; to Second Grade and First Communion…. then flash forward in what seems like a millisecond to Eighth grade and graduation.

Goodbye you sweet and darling 13 year olds. Off you go to the big world of high school and boys with facial hair, cars, dances, and God knows what else.

She’ll be with some familiar friends at the new school, but there will new faces too. Will they be good friends? Friends she’ll remember like the St. John’s kids?

She has the bright idea to take French instead of practical Espanol.

Surely she won’t be the only 9th grader with mad skills as an artist.

And what about trying out for the Volleyball team?

What will happen to my baby?

Not sure. I only know that come that first day of school, she’ll be the one looking forward, and I’ll be the one looking back.

Love you, kid.

OMG to high school. Which high school? I hope the mascot is the Napa w(h)iners. That would be fun.

Amazing. AB really looks grown up. She is a very pretty girl! I remember when she turned double digits at the swim party at our house in Orangevale. Whew!

Speaking of all good things that happened a long time ago, we just learned that the SJSU homecoming is the SAME weekend as Mike's HS reunion which we are going to. This SJSU thing is a must do. Did you also know that Mike and I met 20 years ago on the campus of SJSU?? Even if the pub is no longer there, we need to make a pilgrimage. It’s the weekend of Oct 13/14 and there is a big bon fire that Thursday night under the tower at SJSU. Maybe we can swing by Sigma Chi for a nice warm Bud Light? More to come…
